LOCATION:China Pearl, 9 Tyler Street, Boston Chinatown
DRESS CODE: Cabaret Glam with Cultural Flair ✨
Join CHUANG Stage for a dazzling evening celebrating Asian American musical theatre and the artists who fight to be seen, heard, and centered, and another year of radical inclusion at Boston's Asian American theatre company!
Set in a dinner cabaret format at China Pearl, Maybe Our Beginning brings together local AAPI superstar performers and a curated lineup of musical theatre repertoire that speaks to the journey, the fight, and the heart of claiming space in an industry that too often overlooks us.
For one night only, China Pearl transforms into a stage — meet AAPI star performers while savoring the flavors of community that have sustained us all along. Each ticket tier includes a plated dinner inspired by classic Chinese banquet traditions, celebrating the art of gathering, sharing, and belonging.
From Broadway classics reimagined through new perspectives to original AAPI musical works, this gala is both a performance and a call to action — affirming that Asian American stories belong on every stage.
All proceeds directly support CHUANG Stage’s year-round programming, advancing visibility, equity, and authorship for Asian American artists in Boston and beyond. Together, we’ll raise a glass — and our voices — to the artists and communities who continue to feed the future of American theatre.

Story
In a year when representation has once again been reduced to a headline — when conversations around who gets to tell Asian stories on Broadway have reminded us how fragile visibility can be — CHUANG Stage gathers our community not in outrage, but in creation.
We are hosting this dinner cabaret, Maybe Our Beginning, to reclaim the stage as our own rehearsal room for change — a space where Asian American artists can sing, cry, joke, and dream without apology. This is not a night to “celebrate diversity.” It’s a night to center agency, authorship, and the joy of being seen on our own terms.
For Boston’s Asian American artists, this gala is both an act of resistance and a love letter — a declaration that we belong in every theatre season, not as guests, but as originators.
